With a commitment to transforming the future of research and support for people and families affected by Alzheimer's and dementia, we promote scientific and social impact in this field through three key initiatives: research and collaboration, training and knowledge sharing, and public advocacy and awareness-raising.

HUB Alzheimer Barcelona PhD Fellowships

Call for applications collaborative predoctoral fellowships. The selected researchers will develop their doctoral thesis over four years in a cooperative and equitable manner between two institutions of the HUB, under the co-direction of a consolidated researcher from each of them.

Collaborative research projects

Promotion and coordination of collaborative projects, with the participation of all member institutions, which develop strategic research infrastructures and enhance the international projection of the HUB.

  • BRAVE-AD: collaborative cohort based on APOE genetics, vascular risk and imaging biomarkers.
  • ADAPT-BCN: study on biomarkers and proteomics in patients treated with anti-amyloid therapies.
  • WEAPON: multicenter file of patients with Alzheimer's disease and other related disorders.

Harmonization of resources

We promote the effective collaboration in the use of protocols, cohorts, laboratories and equipment of the different HUB centers, as well as in the translation to clinical and care practice for the benefit of patients and their families.

HUB Alzheimer Barcelona Early-Career Symposium

A biennial, dynamic and participatory scientific meeting, which It showcases and connects emerging talent in Alzheimer's and dementia research. in Barcelona, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and social commitment of the new generation of researchers.

Bimonthly cycle of conferences and/or thematic scientific workshops, rotating between HUB centers, to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen collaboration between institutions.

Alzheimer's training for primary care

Accredited, free, and online training program aimed especially at family doctors to address the new challenges in the care of Alzheimer's and other dementias from Primary Care.

Developed jointly by the Catalan Society of Family and Community Medicine (CAMFiC) and the Alzheimer HUB Barcelona, the course It offers a practical update and based on evidence on prevention, early diagnosis, new biological therapies, care coordination and communication with patients and families in a context of transformation of the care model.

Meeting of international experts on genetically determined Alzheimer's

HUB member institutions, with the support of HUB Alzheimer Barcelona, periodically organize International meetings in Barcelona to strengthen scientific collaboration beyond the city and promote advances in research, clinical practice and care for people with Alzheimer's and their families worldwide.

Practical workshop on scientific communication

Designed specifically for young researchers, the symposium speakers aimed to to help these researchers in the early stages of their careers to communicate their work clearly and with impact. Participants were able to refine their message, strengthen their storytelling skills, and review their presentations with the guidance of an expert.

Conference on Biological Therapies for Alzheimer's

Spaces for debate and reflection that bring together clinical professionals, researchers, healthcare managers and patient representatives to to analyze the challenges and opportunities of implementing biological therapies for Alzheimer's in the Catalan health system. These conferences promote interdisciplinary collaboration, the generation of shared responses to new therapeutic advances, and social awareness of the challenges of Alzheimer's and other dementias.

Joint positioning open letters

The HUB acts as a unified scientific voice of the seven institutions that comprise it to influence health policies, denounce inequalities and demand that scientific advances reach all patients equitably.

In its latest open letter, the HUB expressed its concern to the authorities regarding fair funding, responsible implementation, and a specific Alzheimer's Plan for new disease-modifying treatments.
